There are so many bands and artists today that are capable of recording and launching their own music without the need for a middleman or record label, but there aren't many purpose-built spaces online to monetise music in the early production stage. Plus-A-Tee was founded in 2016 by Ib Warnerbring and Samuel Olsson as a solution to this problem, and also as a reaction to the ever-growing complexity of rival crowdfunding platforms like Kickstarter and Indiegogo.
The mission is simple: we want to make it easier for artists and musicians to make a living doing what they love. As former musicians ourselves we know exactly how hard it is to survive in this business. You need people to support you, and the primary source of income is your music and any peripherals you create in the form of t-shirts, badges, etc. For decades artists and bands have been setting up merch tables at their live gigs. Plus-A-Tee is the digital equivalent of that.
Our format is even simpler than our mission: we want you to offer people an album plus a t-shirt. Those are the only two reward levels we have. Because, unlike sites like Kickstarter or Indiegogo, we exist to support artists and bands, not as a platform to pre-order things. And because of that, we are able to offer bands half the commission that Kickstarter or Indiegogo offer (we charge 5% commission to cover credit card fees, our rivals charge 8-10%).
